We're All About Community

The Math Masters program has been an integral part of communities throughout Minnesota since 1989. It is designed to be accessible by communities and schools regardless of size, location (urban or rural), public or private, and also includes home schooled students.

Since its inception,  Math Masters has expanded to include communities in states surrounding Minnesota. Originally begun as a 5th grade math competition program in 1989, Math Masters expanded to include 6th graders in 1995 and added 4th graders in 2022. It now welcomes approximately 5,500 students each year.

Teachers, parents, coaches and others who live and work in communities where Math Masters competitions are held each year volunteer their time each year to provide fun, educational and safe events for student participants. Minnesota cities that host Math Masters competitions include Alexandria, Apple Valley, Austin, Bemidji, Chaska, Duluth, Eagan, Grand Rapids, Hutchinson, Inver Grove Heights, Lakeville, Mankato, Maplewood, Marshall, Parkers Prairie, Prior Lake, Robbinsdale, Rochester, Sartell, Sauk Rapids, Shoreview, St. Paul. Additionally, competitions are often held in Fargo/Moorhead; Hammond, WI; and Highlands Ranch, CO.

Math Masters is headquartered in North Mankato, Minnesota after over three decades of partnership with the Austin, MN public school system, where founders Lewis Aase and Julia Espe started the program.
